Horticulture Courses a Path to Employment

The Liberal Government is committed to growing jobs and providing young Tasmanians with pathways to fulltime work.

Students in the Huon Valley, Derwent Valley, Smithton and Hobart's northern suburbs are being invited to take a first step to a career in the horticulture industry.

The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens (RTBG) is partnering with GlobalNet Academy, a Tasmanian registered training organisation, to offer nationally recognised horticulture courses.

Funding from Skills Tasmania has enabled the courses to be offered free of charge to participants.

These courses are an excellent opportunity for students wanting to develop a career in horticulture.

This is further evidence of the Government supporting those in the community that may not have otherwise had an opportunity to access such training; consistent with our position of taking action to create jobs, growth and opportunity in this state.

The courses are ideal introductory programs for students and are a proven springboard into employment in a variety of industries with some of the past participants securing work in the industry locally and even internationally.

Enrolment is open to residents of the Huon Valley, Smithton, the Derwent Valley and Hobart's northern suburbs who face some form of disadvantage in gaining employment.

To find out more about these courses and to register an interest, go to www.globalnetacademy.edu.au or phone 0438 687 125.
