Hodgman Government to save Lenny’s Point

The Hodgman Liberal Government has listened to community concerns about the proposed sale of Lenny’s Point and will act to acquire the land from the Council and preserve it for community use.

Lenny’s Point is a favourite spot for Bicheno tourists and locals to socialise with friends or family, in addition to being a surfing hotspot, and it is clear it should remain open to the community as a recreational space for all to enjoy.

The Government will negotiate the transfer with the Council and we will work with them and the local community to establish an ongoing framework for the management of Lenny’s Point into the future.

Importantly, the Glamorgan Spring Bay Council will not incur the costs of the transfer, and will receive the value of the land as determined by the Valuer General.

This will ensure the council  is not left out of pocket and can focus on investing elsewhere in the community.

The Hodgman Liberal Government is proud to stand up for local communities right across the state and I am very pleased to deliver this great outcome for the Bicheno community.
