Hilliard Christian School

I am disappointed for the Hilliard Christian School community that their school registration has not been renewed for 2017 by the Schools Registration Board (SRB).

The registration of non-government schools is a matter for the SRB as an independent statutory body, which includes representatives from Catholic, Independent and State education.

SRB decisions are at arm’s length from government, which is entirely appropriate. Further, under the Education Act, I have no power to intervene in any decision made by the board.

I can confirm Adventist Schools Australia are ensuring appropriate support is in place so the school can demonstrate compliance against the standards required to ensure their ongoing registration. I will continue my offer of support in conjunction with Adventist Schools Australia and Independent Schools Tasmania, to ensure all of these students have a school to  go to in 2017 regardless of the outcome.
