Tasmania's rowing community is seeing the benefits of the Liberal Government's support for the thriving sport.
Storm-damaged infrastructure at the world-class rowing venue Lake Barrington has been refurbished in time for Rowing Tasmania's State Pennant 3 Regatta today.
Earlier this year, severe storms caused considerable damage to the start line pontoon structure at the Lake Barrington International Rowing Course, impacting on competition and events.
The Liberal Government delivered on our election commitment to provide $80,000 to help repair the pontoon.
On behalf of the Government, it was great to see today that the course, the home of Tasmanian rowing, is back in action for the third pennant regatta of the season.
Tasmania boasts two Olympic gold medallists in rowing, in Stephen Hawkins and Scott Brennan, and numerous silver and bronze medallists.
The Government is pleased to provide its support for rowing at not only the elite level but across the board to encourage healthy, active lifestyles for Tasmanians from all walks of life.
