The Hodgman Government is dedicated to growing our award winning tourism industry, and we have a Plan to attract 1.5 million visitors to the State by 2020.
We want to do all we can to continue to build our world class tourism industry, which will help grow the economy and provide employment opportunities across the State.
That is why we have coupled with the Federal Government’s National Business Simplification Initiative in November last year to cut unnecessary red tape in Tasmania’s nature based tourism sector.
From the stunning Three Capes Track to Cradle Mountain, as well as the various walks and adventure tourist ventures in our other iconic national parks, nature based tourism boosts the economy and creates jobs in regional areas.
The Office of the Coordinator-General is working with the Commonwealth Department of Industry, Innovation and Science (DIIS) to map regulations in Tasmania’s nature based tourism sector to reduce regulatory duplication and unnecessary burden.
This will make it easier for tourism operators to get on with the job with what they do best, providing quality nature based experiences. This is great news for Tasmanian jobs, the economy, and the tourism sector, and validates our commitment to open up our national parks to appropriate and sensitive development.
