Hellyers Road Distillery project gets Government funding boost

The Hodgman Government is working with regional businesses to help them expand and create more local jobs through the Regional Revival Fund.

Hellyers Road Distillery has been awarded $250,000 from the Regional Revival Fund, which will unlock a $1.01 million investment in Burnie.

Hellyers Road will now move ahead with the project, which will see a new bottling line installed as well as other infrastructure to support growing demand for their outstanding whisky.

Tasmanian whisky is going from strength to strength and is becoming one of our most iconic industries.  But we must make sure we are doing everything possible to help grow the industry, especially those businesses that operate in regional Tasmania, and that’s exactly what this funding will do.

The latest round of the Regional Revival Fund will support eight projects that will create around 95 direct jobs during the investment phase as well as an estimated 170 ongoing positions.

The eight new projects will deliver a total of $16.8 million in direct investment through our partnership model which requires joint funding from project proponents or other partners.

While the North West currently has the lowest unemployment rate in the State, there is always more we can do and that’s what the Regional Revival Fund is all about.
