The Hodgman Liberal Government has made it clear we will continue to invest heavily in health and we would expect the Australian Medical Association to welcome that commitment.
Under the current Liberal Government, more than 30 per cent of the state’s total budget is devoted to health. Under previous Governments, it was as low as 24 per cent.
This year alone, we are spending $400 million more than under the former Government.
Tasmania’s spending on health as a proportion of our Budget is the second highest of any state or territory.
This is not a time for Labor scare campaigns around funding.
The Government has shown repeatedly that we respond to extra demand in the health system by putting in more money and employing more staff.
Every year we have budgeted more for health, and every year we flex up our spending to meet additional demand.
This year, we’ll be doing that again.
