Have your say: Quad Bike safety

Interested parties are invited to provide feedback on the ‘Quad Bike Safety in Tasmania’ issues paper.

Quad bikes are a convenient and useful vehicle in workplaces such as farms and an increasingly popular recreational and sporting vehicle.

Despite their convenience and popularity, quad bikes have been the leading cause of death on farms in Australia for the past five years.

However, the risks posed by quad bikes aren’t limited to farm workers, with approximately half of fatalities being individuals outside a work setting. Most tragically, one in five people killed on quad bikes in Australia are children.

In response, I established a taskforce to consult widely and investigate ways of improving safety outcomes for quad bike users.

The Taskforce has released ‘Quad Bike Safety in Tasmania’, an issues paper on these vehicles.

Interested parties can review the paper and provide their feedback through the Community Consultation section at www.justice.tas.gov.au

Your feedback will provide invaluable insight as we develop a Statewide Quad Bike Safety Plan during 2017.

Submissions close 28 February 2017.
