Harmony Week 2017

Today I was delighted to launch Harmony Week 2017 in Tasmania in conjunction with the Multicultural Council of Tasmania.

Tasmania will celebrate Harmony Week from March 20-26 and today we are launching Harmony Week with a community cricket match to highlight teamwork and co-operation.

Harmony Week will see multiple events held across the State, with the program being the result of the hard work of the Multicultural Council of Tasmania supported by the State Government.

Harmony Week provides an important opportunity to celebrate Tasmania’s cultural diversity and join together to celebrate who we are and recognise the benefits that come from diversity.

Supporting Harmony Week celebrations is one of a number of actions the Government is implementing as part of our Population Growth Strategy, launched in September last year.

The Population Growth Strategy also contains strategies which will assist migrants to settle and feel welcome in Tasmania.

Every day Tasmania benefits from the skills, knowledge, experiences, innovation, job creation and personal contributions of our culturally and linguistically diverse community.

I encourage all Tasmanians to register their events with the Multicultural Council of Tasmania and join in the celebrations of Harmony Week.
