Hagley Farm School

As a former student of Hagley Farm School, I understand and support the importance of farm schools. I can attest first hand to the importance of this valuable educational facility and its popularity within the community and the important hands-on learning offered to students.

The Liberal Government remains committed to providing good educational outcomes for all Tasmanians.

The Liberal Government believes school farms are valuable to both schools and their wider communities. They provide important hands-on learning for students and a pathway to employment opportunities. It would be unacceptable to have an agricultural school without animals.

Yesterday's announcement from the Council is a serious concern for students and the community. As the Local Member for the Liberal Government I will continue to support the Minister and the Council to come to a satisfactory resolution, so that this great program can continue to be provided to the community into the future.

I recently toured this school farm. It is important that the farm school education can continue to be provided to the community into the future.
