The latest CommSec Report confirms that Tasmania’s economy is heading in the right direction, stating that we are currently experiencing a "lift in momentum".
The report notes that Tasmania has "moved up the rankings" to have caught South Australia.
When we came to Government, Tasmania was last on every single Commsec measure. In this latest report, we are have improved on all those measures, bar one.
The report highlights the strength in our tourism and hospitality sector, building activity and population growth as positives for the State; and importantly, it rates jobs as our main positive.
While the findings of the Report are welcome, we know there is still a lot of work to do. That’s why we are getting the budget back on track so that we can invest more to deliver better frontline services, and to boost the economy.
