Growing our manufacturing sector with new web portal

Tasmania’s manufacturing sector is a vital part of our economy and the Hodgman Liberal Government will continue to support its growth and strategic diversification.

The new Tasmanian Manufacturing Web Portal launched today will help the sector grow and expand into new markets and develop new products through sharing ideas, expertise and insights.

Developed by the Tasmanian Minerals and Energy Council’s Advanced Manufacturing Committee, with the support of the Tasmanian Government, the Tasmanian Manufacturing Web Portal will become a one-stop-shop for the sector over the longer term in seeking new markets, developing new ideas and partnerships and in bringing new customers to the door.

This new one-stop-shop brings together our state’s manufacturers who have the capability to meet the needs of industry sectors such as agriculture, defence, maritime, mining, technology and much more.

Through the Tasmanian Manufacturing Web Portal, local companies will be supporting local jobs and growth while building their company’s own capacity and reach.

This new web portal will showcase Tasmania’s capabilities on the national and international stage to help our businesses break in to new markets and link them up with new customers.

The web portal includes:

  • Company name and contacts
  • Capabilities and expertise
  • Certifications
  • Sector specialisations
  • Australian markets
  • International markets

Already more than 100 Tasmanian companies have signed on to be a part of this initiative and to take advantage of the benefits that collaboration and partnerships can, and will, bring our local businesses.

I encourage all Tasmanian businesses involved in manufacturing and engineering to sign up today.

To get involved businesses should go to tasmanianmanufacturing.com.au to register.
