Green's water and sewerage policy disaster

Labor Leader Bryan Green has today announced what would have to qualify as the biggest policy disaster in living memory.

His so-called water and sewerage policy has three key elements - fake money, privatisation, and putting pet projects in Hobart ahead of rural and regional Tasmanians with inadequate water and sewerage services.

It may have escaped Mr Green’s attention, but Labor is not in Government federally – meaning that any promised money from Bill Shorten literally is “fake” money.

I never thought I would see that day that a Labor Leader in Tasmania would support privatising our water and sewerage – but that is exactly what Mr Green is proposing with his suggestion that superannuation funds finance his pet projects at Macquarie Point and MONA.

These super funds will need a return and the only way to achieve that is through higher prices for customers.

This really must have been a policy cobbled together on a napkin last night when Mr Green and his colleagues were desperately trying to find a way to oppose our considered and sensible Plan to fix Tasmania’s water and sewerage.
