Greens greed exposed

The increasingly desperate North West land grab by the Greens and the conservation movement has been revealed by the exposure of their shoddy and dishonest tactics in the past 24 hours.

First, the Forest Practices Authority demolished the claim by the Bob Brown Foundation that Forestry Tasmania had engaged in illegal road construction near a wedge tailed eagle nest.

The nest had been checked by the FPA and confirmed as unoccupied.

The perpetual protestors in the Bob Brown Foundation should do their homework before fabricating allegations - and while they're at it, they should apologise for their damaging lies.

As if one set of fabrications wasn't enough, Cassy O'Connor has embarrassed herself by joining in today with a total misrepresentation of Forestry Tasmania's draft high conservation value assessment.

Far from exposing the Government, the report exposes the hypocrisy of the Greens when it comes to protection of HCVs.

Forestry Tasmania's landscape area HCV assessment extends well beyond the Permanent Timber Production Zone and well into the reserve system.

It finds that FT's couped production forests cover just one fifth of 1 per cent of identified HCV forests and that 97 per cent are already in the reserve system.

Despite this overwhelming conservation bias, Forestry Tasmania is continuing to do all it can to improve its already high quality forest management practices.

The greedy Greens should welcome this approach, rather than deliberately distorting the facts to bolster their failing Tarkine campaign.
