The attempts of Tasmania’s newest Green front group to hide from public scrutiny have become farcical and left any credibility it may have had left in tatters.
We now have a spokesperson for the anti-fish farming group Let’s Grow Tasmania’s Future commenting anonymously to the media.*
If it wasn’t so serious it would be laughable – a secretive, cashed-up group running a misleading and offensive campaign against Tasmanian jobs where even the so-called spokesperson hides behind a veil of secrecy.
However, the spokesperson has revealed that another shadowy anti-fish farm group is involved, the so-called “Marine Protection Tasmania”, who also have a slick website with no details on who runs and funds it.
Ironically, the Marine Protection Tasmania website claims that their aims are “to achieve greater transparency and accountability to the community from elected leaders at all levels of government”.#
What are those behind this group so afraid of that they are not prepared to put their names to their expensive and misleading advertising?
Everything about this group is a nonsense; their very name is a ploy designed to counter the reality that – in spite of their denials – they are against growth and against jobs.
Those responsible should have the courage of their convictions and put their names to their claims so that a fair and open public debate can be had.
