Green abandons forest and mining industries - again

Bryan Green did his best to destroy our resource industries in government and now he’s abandoned them in opposition by shuffling the resources portfolio off to David Llewellyn.

I’m sure that the irony of Mr Llewellyn being vocally opposed to Mr Green’s job-destroying forest deal won’t be lost on anyone.

Mr Green’s enduring legacy is the devastation of our forest industries while he was Minister.

Labor’s deal with the Greens in 2010 came at a cost of more than 4,300 forestry jobs – two out of every three jobs in the industry.

Almost all of those jobs were in regional areas.

To add insult to injury Mr Green now wants to pose as Labor’s spokesman on regional development.

He’s so uninterested in regional Tasmania that he opposes the move of MRT to Burnie, providing new jobs and support for mining in the industry’s heartland.
