Grants now open to help farmers improve land and waterways

Tasmania’s agricultural sector employs more than 7500 Tasmanians and is worth $1.5 billion at the farm gate.

Our produce is the envy of the world and we are building on our reputation with a target to grow the annual farm gate value to $10 billion by 2050.

The Hodgman Liberal Government is working with the sector and community organisations to protect this important industry and sustain the productive soils, farm land, rivers and other natural resources that underpin this important sector.

In partnership with the TFGA and Landcare Tasmania, a new $1.8 million Landcare Action Grants Program is being made available to landholders, community groups and individuals to deliver practical on-ground works for sustainable agriculture and river care activities.

The Program sits alongside the $200 000 ‘Cows out of Creeks’ project which was announced in 2018 and the Government’s doubling of funding to Landcare Tasmania to $960 000 over 4 years and increased funding for Natural Resource Management to $4.2 million over 4 years.

Investing in landcare helps protect Tasmania’s reputation for clean green food and agricultural products.
