On behalf of the Hodgman Liberal Government, I would like to offer my congratulations to two Tasmanian building and construction organisations for recently entering a deal that will support more local jobs in these important sectors.
The Australian Institute of Architects and Master Builders Tasmania (MBT) have both signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote the value of buying locally sourced materials and services.
The Hodgman Government has its own 'Buy Local' Policy, and it is pleasing to see industry-leading organisations like the Australian Institute of Architects and MBT pledging to source materials and services locally.
We have seen employment in the building and construction industry increase by 6,700 jobs under the Hodgman Liberal Government, and with a record number of cranes in the sky and residential building booming, jobs will continue to increase.
But it doesn't stop there, because we have set a target for a 25 per cent increase in people employed in the building and construction sector over the next five years, if we are re-elected to Government.
