Government welcomes industry partnership to support Tasmanian small businesses

The challenges presented by COVID-19 have taken a toll on businesses across Australia and Tasmania is not immune.

We have provided significant support for small businesses in the state, and acknowledge the difficult circumstances this pandemic has delivered.

Today, we welcome this important partnership between Master Builders Tasmania and Bank of us, which will support many construction industry small businesses across the state, with access to financial literacy coaching and training.

We recognise that reskilling and upskilling Tasmanians is essential to rebuilding our economy, and the education and information services that will be provided through this partnership will help to support the roll out of our $3.1 billion Rebuilding Tasmania Construction Blitz.

The infrastructure package is expected to stimulate investment in the private sector and underpin the economy - by creating around 15,000 jobs with an estimated construction value of $3.1 billion.

The Government has committed to supporting small business, and never before has that been more important as we rally together to build our way out of this pandemic.

We are committed to working with business and industry to remain resilient and ensure jobs and livelihoods are protected.

These are challenging times, and as we continue along the road to recovery from COVID-19 the Tasmanian Government will do everything we can to explore ways to support our Tasmanian small businesses.
