Government Estimates 2018

Tasmania is a much prouder, stronger and more confident place to live than when we first came to Government four and a half years ago.

Estimates will be an opportunity for the Government to demonstrate just how much has been achieved in the past 12 months, and talk about our Plan to take Tasmania to the next level.

More people are now employed, our population is growing again and private investment is also up.

Strong financial management means the State Budget is in surplus and will continue to be across the forward estimates.

It also means we can continue to invest more into health, education and Tasmanians in need.

There’s nearly $300 million in the State Budget to reduce cost of living pressures, and we’ve doubled funding in 2018-19 for affordable housing.

We’re also building the infrastructure our growing State needs.

The Government welcomes scrutiny of our long-term Plan, which was recently endorsed at the State election.

We look forward to discussing the actions the Hodgman Liberal Government is taking on behalf of Tasmanians to make our State an even better place.

With Labor still bitter from their third worst election defeat ever the question is - can they rise above political pettiness and engage constructively, or true to form will they resort to games and name calling?
