Government appointments

I am pleased to confirm a number of Government parliamentary appointments which will be effective from this week.

Mark Shelton, the Member for Lyons, has been appointed as Parliamentary Secretary to the Premier.

Mark is an experienced local Member with strong local connections and a background in small business, agriculture and local government and will play a key role in driving the Government’s strategic growth plan.

Joan Rylah, the Member for Braddon, has been appointed as Government Whip and Parliamentary Secretary for Regional Affairs.

Joan will play a key role in driving the Government’s strong agenda on regional growth, education, health, infrastructure and jobs - issues that are so important to the Braddon electorate, along with other regional areas around the state.

Jane Howlett, Liberal MLC for Prosser, has been appointed as the Deputy Leader for Government Business in the Legislative Council, supporting Leonie Hiscutt MLC for Montgomery, who continues in her role as the Leader for Government Business in the Legislative Council.

Jane has done an excellent job getting results for her community and promoting the Government’s agenda in the Legislative Council since being elected last year.

I congratulate Mark, Joan and Jane on their appointments and look forward to working with them to deliver results for Tasmanians.
