The Government welcomes news that Rex Airlines will reinstate services from Tullamarine to King Island.
This service is very important for residents, businesses and visitors to the island, which is why the Government was actively involved in discussions between the King Island Council and Rex airlines to minimise the inconvenience for the King Island community.
The King Island Council has agreed that its new airport charges be placed on hold until 1 April 2019 while a long-term partnership agreement between Rex and King Island Council is progressed.
We are continuing to work with all parties, through Tourism Tasmania, to progress the next steps required for a long term destination partnership with Rex.
