Glenorchy City Council

I note that today the Legislative Council has supported our legislation to provide certainty for the people of Glenorchy, which will mean a new council will be elected early next year.

As a result of the Supreme Court’s decision today, I also expect to receive the Board of Inquiry report shortly.

I will release the report as soon as possible following a detailed consideration of its findings so that voters can be fully informed.

The legislation provides for a fresh Glenorchy City Council election early next year.  This is the result that the community has been calling for and this will provide ratepayers and residents with both the opportunity and responsibility of electing the Council they want to guide the future of their city.
