Girls getting their skates on

She Shreds is set to get new skateboarding ramps and equipment thanks to a $5000 Premier’s Discretionary Fund (PDF) grant.

Established in 2014 She Shreds is a not for profit organisation which aims to encourage girls to get active and increase their participation in sport in a friendly, supportive environment that is typically dominated by males.

The group also runs skateboarding competitions and supports girls to enter national and international competitions.

The Hodgman Liberal Government is proud to support this organisation that now has between 75 and 120 regular female skateboarders who get involved in `Come and Try Days’.

This funding comes in addition to $3300 provided through the Community Support Levy - Sport and Recreation Minor Grants Program, that went towards the purchase of skateboards and protective gear.

The Hodgman Government is committed to developing and supporting sport and recreation activities that engage Tasmanians to be physically active, as it creates healthier communities and supports our goal to become the healthiest State by 2025.
