Getting to the heart of red tape stopping Launceston CBD investment

The Liberal Government wants to make sure Tasmania is open for business so that we can create jobs and grow the economy.

We support the Launceston Chamber of Commerce and the work it is doing to ensure that inner city development can proceed and we welcome the Launceston City Council's City Heart project, which is intended to rejuvenate the CBD, drive investment and create jobs.

That's why today I'm sitting down with the Launceston Chamber of Commerce, the Launceston City Council and the business community to talk about how we can all work together to progress this opportunity and remove any hurdles to increasing investment in Launceston's CBD.

Launceston is ready for renewal and that's what today's meeting is all about.

The Liberal Government firmly believes that we need to reduce the red and green tape that is strangling this state. That's why we are fixing the planning system and reviewing the mess of building regulations.

Today's meeting is just the start and I am determined to keep working with the council, the chamber of commerce, local business people and the community so the CBD can achieve its potential.
