Further Investment in School Infrastructure

Two more schools in Denison are set to benefit from construction projects that will upgrade classrooms and amenities while driving economic growth and creating jobs.

Many of our current and future students in Hobart’s Northern Suburbs will soon enjoy new, high-quality education facilities that meet the needs of modern learners.

  • The construction tenders advertised this weekend are:
    • Austins Ferry Primary School: construction of an early years learning pod, including learning and support areas, a discovery room and improvements to playgrounds and pedestrian and vehicle movement;
    • Windermere Primary School: construction of a purpose built early years learning pod and improvements to playgrounds and pedestrian and vehicle flow.

Across the forward estimates, the 2016-17 State Budget provides the biggest State investment in Government school infrastructure in 20 years.

Building our education future by upgrading students’ learning environments also grows the Tasmanian economy with a total of $110 million being invested over four years at schools across the State.

These projects are part of a State Government commitment to ensure students have the best opportunity to explore their passions and discover a path to their future career.

It will not only drive economic growth and create jobs from planning to construction, but also provide a significant investment in schools experiencing growth in my electorate.
