Funding Neighbourhood Houses

The Hodgman Liberal Government is reinvesting in essential services for Tasmanians in need, and we recognise the important role Neighbourhood Houses play in supporting their local communities.

With the Budget back in balance, Neighbourhood Houses are now better resourced than ever before. Our ongoing commitment includes additional funding to each of the 33 Government funded Houses - $10,000 in surplus funds from last financial year were provided to each house, with another $15,000 from the current Budget.  This is in addition to base funding of $5.2 million per year.

The Government has also invested over $6 million in building works through our Capital Improvement Program, which includes the investment of $1.66 million for the construction of the new Northern Suburbs Community Centre at Newnham, which opens soon.

The Hodgman Government is a passionate supporter of Neighbourhood Houses, and we understand it is important that they get the support they need to continue their vital work in the community. That is why we will continue to work with Neighbourhood Houses regarding their bid for additional funding, and we will have more to say on this closer to the election.
