Four wheel driving in national parks

Braddon Liberal MP Adam Brooks has today welcomed Tasmanian Greens support for four wheel driving in some National Parks.

Mr Brooks said the Hodgman Liberal Government was a strong supporter of traditional recreational activities such as four-wheel driving.

“It was good to hear on Brian Carlton’s Tasmania Talks program that Greens candidate for Launceston Emma Anglesey supported multi-use national parks,” Mr Brooks said.

“When asked if that included ATV (four-wheel) tours, Ms Anglesey said ‘a possibility for some areas’"*.

“I thought it would be a cold day in hell before I would ever welcome anything the Greens said, but credit where credit is due.

“I only hope that her Salamanca latte-sipping parliamentary colleagues will also embrace her views and let Tasmanians enjoy traditional recreation such as four wheel driving, fishing and shooting.

“When proper protections are put in place, National Parks can be enjoyed by all users, not just dark green environmentalists.”
