Floods grants close on Friday

Sport and recreation clubs and not-for profit organisations are being encouraged to apply for Tasmanian Government flood-recovery grants before applications close this Friday the 30th of September.

Quick response grants of up to $2000 are available to assist with the clean-up and recovery process.

Already 28 grants totally $55,000 have been provided to flood affected clubs and organisations include disability support groups, local charities, life-saving clubs, junior sports clubs and golf clubs.

The funding has helped significantly with clean-up efforts, replacement of supplies and equipment and small renovations.

The Government is doing what we can to help clubs and organisations get back on their feet and continue to be able to provide important services to their local communities.

To be eligible clubs and organisations must have incurred costs as a result of the floods which are not recoverable through other means such as insurance. Further information and an application form can be found at the Flood Recovery section of the Tas ALERT website – www.alert.tas.gov.au or phone 1800 204224
