Financial Security for Women Action Plan released

The Hodgman Liberal Government is committed to creating a more inclusive Tasmania that empowers and enables women and girls to fully participate in Tasmanian life.

The Financial Security for Women Action Plan released today is the first in a series of action plans to be delivered under the Tasmanian Women’s Strategy 2018-21.

We know women are more likely than men to have interrupted career patterns, often due to caring responsibilities, so being able to fully participate in the economy is critical to women’s financial well-being. This Action Plan forms a living document that will be responsive to future priorities and new initiatives, and sets out a range of actions across the whole of Government to address women’s financial security.

The Financial Security for Women Action Plan also aims to increase gender equity for women and girls right across the state, and has been informed by submissions and survey responses made to the Tasmanian Government in the development of the Strategy as well as research findings and statistical data on women’s financial security.

While there is always more to do, the release of this strategy today marks another important step in our long-term plan to improve the lives of every Tasmanian woman and girl.
