Fighting for Tasmania’s fair share of GST

The Hodgman Government will always fight for Tasmania’s fair share of the GST.

The Productivity Commission’s review into the method for distributing GST among the states and territories is an opportunity for Tasmania to once again unite and clearly say that as a community we simply won’t stand for it.

The Government has made a further submission to the Productivity Commission, outlining our concerns with the draft paper they released recently.

Now that the Productivity Commission has accepted our invitation to hold a public hearing in Tasmania, I look forward to expanding on our submission in person on 1 December.

On 1 December I will explain to the Productivity Commission that Tasmania will fight for every single cent that we are entitled to.

I will highlight how the Hodgman Government has balanced the budget, made the difficult decisions and is using our share of the GST to invest in vital frontline services.

I will also show how Western Australia wasted one of the biggest economic booms in Australian history.
