Festive season celebrates in #TassieStyle

Tourism Tasmania’s #TassieStyle competition continues to prove just how big our state’s fan base is, exceeding expectations as entries more than double during the busy festive season.

Over 20 000 #TassieStyle images have already been posted by visitors and locals sharing their love of Tasmania during the first five weeks of the three-month social media campaign.

Sharing Tasmania’s images through personal endorsement is an innovative way to support tourism across the state, as we experience unprecedented growth and investment in the industry. Today’s likes and shares can bring tomorrow’s visitors - the strength of social media means thousands of liked entries have already been shared far and wide.

With over 250 000 tourists anticipated to visit our shores over summer, #TassieStyle helps secure the state as a tourist destination as more people discover the unique beauty of this state from their own trusted social media sources.

From an image of snowmen at Cradle Mountain during summer to stretches of beautiful secluded beaches, many posts share the competition’s focus on originality and creativity as people demonstrate their own #TassieStyle.  Local entrants with an eye for the authentic are also making a huge contribution to the state’s profile, with Tassie Instagrammer memoriesbysarah winning a $500 travel voucher for her caption and photo at Fat Pig Farm.

This is yet another positive example of the Government and industry working together to grow our visitor economy to 1.5 million visitors annually by 2020, which industry says will create 8,000 new jobs. #TassieStyle has seen tourism operators, regional tourism authorities and visitor information centres all play their part in the success of the campaign, posting and tweeting Tasmania’s iconic and unique beauty while encouraging customers to follow.

#TassieStyle is open to Tasmanians and visitors, and runs until 28 February. Details can be found on Tourism Tasmania's Go Behind The Scenery.
