Summer celebrations are about to be in full swing, with many world-class food, music, cultural and sporting events showcasing the best Tasmania has to offer.
To avoid disappointment and frustration when purchasing tickets to these events, there are some things consumers can do to protect themselves.
Tasmanians should make sure to purchase from authorised ticket sellers, and consider paying by credit card. If something goes wrong, you may be able to get a charge back from your bank or financial institution.
All of the usual consumer rights and protections apply when buying tickets to these events, just like any other goods or services you purchase, but consumers should be wary when buying tickets online and be aware of unauthorised ticket ‘resellers’ who take advantage when events sell out quickly.
While buying tickets on the secondary market may be convenient, the risks of purchasing from unauthorised resellers include tickets being priced much higher than the original ticket price, or the resold ticket not being genuine or have the same protections if the event is cancelled.
