The Hodgman Liberal Government has a goal of growing Tasmanian tourism to 1.5 million visitors by 2020 and the magnificent Festivale in Launceston’s City Park is one of the iconic events in this vision.
It is pleasure to officially launch the 2018 Festivale program today, a celebration of some of Tasmania’s top drops, premium produce and entertainment.
Moving a week ahead of its usual spot on the Tasmanian summer events calendar, the three-day festival will get underway on Friday February 2.
Through Events Tasmania, the Tasmanian Government has committed $240,000 over the next three years in a bid to attract more interstate ticketholders to the festival.
Drawing a 35,000 strong crowd with an estimated economic impact of more than $5 million, the unique outdoors wine and food extravaganza is just one example of why Tasmania is fast becoming the boutique events capital of Australia.
The Tasmanian Liberal Government is committed to supporting events which gets people moving around the state and Festivale is making a significant contribution to achieving our T21 goal to attract $1.5 million visitors to Tasmania by 2020.
We are leading the nation when it comes to tourism growth so now we have our sights set on getting tourists to stay longer, see more of our state and to spend more because we want more Tasmanians to feel the benefits.
Congratulations to all involved in putting together a fantastic program for 2018.
