Ferry service another step closer

A ferry service between Bellerive and Sullivans Cove is one step closer to reality with an expert consultant now appointed by Metro Tasmania to better inform the service.

MRCagney is one of Australasia’s leading transportation consultancies who have extensive experience in developing ferry services, and they will undertake the study and consult with a range of stakeholders and the community.

The Hodgman Liberal Government understands that public transport is a critical element of successful transport outcomes for Hobart, which is why we went to the election supporting a commuter ferry service between Bellerive and the city of Hobart.

The study will include an assessment of demand, to ensure the specifications and infrastructure aligns with the transport needs of Metro and commuters.

We are investing in public transport and building the infrastructure our state needs to grow, supporting our long term plan to improve the lives of every Tasmanian.
