Federal Budget good for small business – the engine room of Tasmania’s economy

Last night’s Budget is good for small business, good for jobs and good for Tasmania.

If you wanted to design a budget to stimulate Tasmania’s economy, this is it.

Small business employs around 100,000 Tasmanians and is our biggest employer.  94 per cent of Tasmania’s nearly 37,000 businesses will benefit directly from the small business tax breaks from 1 July this year.  The tax breaks mean businesses can invest, expand and employ more Tasmanians.

The personal tax breaks will benefit 40,000 Tasmanians and means up to $14 million will stay in Tasmania, which is great for families and great for our economy.

Under the Hodgman Liberal Government, an additional 3,200 young Tasmanians have found work and yesterday the Federal Budget announced a $840 million program that will help more young Tasmanians get a job.

The Federal Budget will enable the Tasmanian Government to get on with the job of growing the economy and creating jobs.
