Will Hodgman, Premier

Farewell to the Hon. Jim Wilkinson MLC

The Tasmanian Government congratulates the President of the Legislative Council, and long-time Member for Nelson (formally Queenborough), the Hon. Jim Wilkinson MLC on his last Parliamentary sitting day and thanks him for his many years of public service.

Jim Wilkinson is a widely known and highly respected Member of the Legislative Council, who has contributed significantly to our community for many years since his election in 1995.

Even in the face of the most contentious of political debates, Jim always brought a calm and measured approach, and often with a helpful dose of good humour.

As a proud and passionate Tasmanian, Jim will no doubt continue to be a very active member of our community.

We certainly look forward to continuing to work with him as Chair of the new Football Tasmania Board to help build the sport and the case for a team of our own.

On behalf of the people of Tasmania, I wish Jim, Jill, and the Wilkinson family the very best as he now steps away from his parliamentary career.
