Events Tasmania Grants Program Open

The Liberal Government is committed to attracting 1.5 million visitors to our state by 2020 and our Events Tasmania Grants Program will help to achieve this.

Applications for the grants program are now open, offering grants of up to $15,000 from a pool of $350,000 across three categories including:

• Touring Grants - $15,000 for car, motorbike, cycle or walking tours where participants stay in accommodation more than five nights and half the tour is held in regional areas;
• Championship Grants - $3,000 for competitions bringing more than 200 competitors and supporters to the state outside of the high season and staying in accommodation for more than three nights; and
• Marketing Grants - $5,000 for events that bring visitors to regional Tasmania to assist in growing visitor numbers and get people talking about it through a variety of channels.

The 2014 Events Tasmania Grants supported 70 events, across 40 locations on 38 weekends across the year.

Events not only give Tasmanians a chance to experience new and different things, they also draw visitors to our state. In fact, every year more than 100,000 people travel to Tasmania for the express reason of attending an event or festival.

The grant application process will close on October 20.
