EOIs open for next round of extension schools

Expressions of interest are now open for the next round of schools to extend to Years 11 and 12 from 2020.

The Hodgman Liberal Government has a long term Plan to improve education outcomes so young people have the best possible opportunities in life.

Extending all high schools to years 11 and 12 by 2022 is a central part of our Plan.

Already 38 schools have been extended, with another five set to extend next year.

Expressions of Interest for 2020 will remain open until 15 November 2018.

Extending high schools to year 12 is about keeping students engaged with education for longer so they have the skills they need to get a good job.

The Department of Education’s Annual Report tabled today confirms our Plan is working with an extra 688 students enrolling in schools that have extended.

And even better, the Tasmanian Assessment Standards and Certification Annual report for 2017-18 has confirmed a more than 10 per cent increase in TCE achievement under this government.

These great results don’t happen by accident- they are the result of a strong focus on education that is delivering record investments and better outcomes for Tasmanian students.
