The Tasmanian Government is committed to growing the state’s tourism industry and the opening of Entally Lodge shows investors are confident in Tasmania’s tourism future.
The expansion and redevelopment of the property, formerly known as Rutherglen Holiday Village, will see it reclaimed by the iconic tourist attraction Entally Estate, 80 years after it was originally sold off.
Owners Rob Sherrard and Brett Godfrey have a strong history in developing tourist attractions, with Quamby Estate, Lake House and Low Head Pilot Station already in their portfolio.
They were co-founders of airline Virgin Blue (now Virgin Australia) and recently won the best Sustainable Tourism and Adventure Tourism award at the 2015 Tasmanian Tourism Awards for Tasmanian Walking Company, which was purchased in 2013.
Mr Godfrey’s other tourism interests include board positions with Auckland International Airport, Canada’s Westjet airlines and as Deputy Chair of Tourism Australia.
Their faith and willingness to invest in Tasmania is a sign of confidence in the Government’s vision to grow the state’s tourism industry to 1.5 million visitors per year by 2020.
We have seen more visitors to our state than ever before in the past year and our tourism operators received unprecedented praise at the 2014 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards.
Our commitment to the tourism industry will ensure we attract more visitors and investors to the state, which in-turn will create more jobs for Tasmanian families.
