Enjoy Cracker Night Safely

Tasmanians are urged to be responsible with fireworks this Cracker Night, this Saturday, May 27.

A total of 503 type 2 firework display permits have been issued around the State.

We hope the many Tasmanians who will view these displays – big and small – will have fun and be safe.

While it is sometimes easy to forget that fireworks can be dangerous, poor handling or misuse can lead to serious injuries, especially to children and animals.

All firework display permits come with a set of strict conditions designed to ensure safety. They are also intended to minimise disturbance to other people and animals.

For example, all displays must be supervised by the permit holder and not exceed 30 minutes in duration, and permit holders must have given at least seven days clear notice of the proposed display to a number of authorities and neighbours.

Permit holders should ensure they have complied with all conditions and that the weather is suitable before going ahead with their displays.
