Energy update

Through our Energy Supply Plan the Government is doing everything necessary to maintain energy security.

There have been no material inflows into Hydro catchments over the past week.  As of today, Hydro’s water levels are at 14.8 per cent, a reduction of 0.7 per cent during the previous week.

Basslink has advised that the interconnector has been cut and further updates on repairing the cable are expected this week.

The Energy Supply Plan continues to be rolled out with the first 100 MW of diesel generation progressively coming online.  Hydro has advised it is on track to have 100 MW of temporary diesel generation available by the end of March and 200 MW by the end of April.

Hydro has advised the Government that temporary diesel generation began at Catagunya on 11 March.  It is currently producing around 9 MW and will progressively increase to 24 MW over the next few days.

Work is on schedule to roll out temporary diesel generation at Meadowbank, George Town, Port Latta and Tribute.

Hydro and the Government will provide regular updates on the Energy Supply Plan as the situation evolves. Tasmanians can be assured we will do everything necessary to maintain energy security.
