Ending the Labor-Green Recession

Today's State Accounts show the Liberal Government has ended the Labor-Green recession.

Tasmania's Gross State Product for 2013-14 recorded its strongest growth rate in five years, increasing by 1.2 per cent to $24.91 billion.

Our GSP per capita was 0.9 per cent higher than last year and grew more than the national per capita growth rate.

State Final Demand was up 1.8 per cent in the June Quarter, which is proof our long-term Plan for Tasmania is already starting to show results.

Since we've come to Government, we've seen business confidence rise to the highest in the nation, retail spending is at a record high and around 3,000 jobs have been created, with unemployment queues the shortest they've been in 18 months.

We know there's a lot more work to be done and while we can't turn the ship around overnight, today's figures show we are on the right track and the economy is recovering.
