Electric Experience: Ride or Drive an EV.

Tasmanians had the chance to take an electric vehicle for a test drive in Launceston today as part of the Australian Electric Vehicle Association’s event Electric Experience: Ride or Drive an EV.

Electric vehicles powered by Tasmania’s renewable energy have the potential to significantly improve the efficiency of Tasmanian vehicles through reduced transport costs and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

The Hodgman Liberal Government committed $450,000 to support the rollout of a state-wide electric vehicle charging network.

The Government’s Climate Action 21: Tasmania's Climate Change Action Plan 2017–2021 (Climate Action 21) also outlines our support for the update of electric vehicles.

A Consultation Paper has been released to seek public comment on the Tasmanian Government’s approach to supporting the installation of chargers that are accessible to the public.

The feedback received will inform the development of a strategy to ensure the funding achieves the greatest benefit for Tasmania by increasing public electric vehicle charging opportunities state-wide, and providing the best possible user-experience for Tasmanians and visitors to the State.
