Elder Abuse Campaign Continuing Despite Labor Cuts

The Liberal Government is committed to tackling Elder Abuse and ensuring that vulnerable Tasmanians are empowered and treated with the respect they deserve.

Labor MP Rebecca White's uninformed attack on the Elder Abuse awareness campaign today ignored two important facts:

  • The Elder Abuse is Not Ok advertising campaign has not been cancelled. It aired throughout May and June and is continuing over the coming months.
  • The Liberal Government has committed $450,000 over the next three years to Elder Abuse Prevention strategies, while Labor had provided not one dollar in the forward estimates to continue the strategy.

Our commitment will pay for advertising, the Elder Abuse helpline and peer education.

The Elder Abuse is Not Ok campaign is a powerful message and we will continue to place advertisements in the coming year, to ensure that we protect vulnerable elderly Tasmanians.
