The Hodgman Liberal Government’s vision is for Tasmania to be the environmental tourism capital of the world.
I welcome the Glamorgan Spring Bay Council’s approval of a planning scheme amendment last night as a crucial first step towards a $100 million eco-resort development for Dolphin Sands, near Swansea.
The proposed development would be one of the largest seen on the lower East Coast and be a major boost for the local visitor economy.
Tourism is booming in Tasmania. Recent economic analysis showed international visitor numbers jumped 17 per cent in 2017 over the year before, and interstate visitor numbers continue to grow strongly.
It is great to see plans being put in place for the East Coast to share in this success.
