Draft World Heritage Area Management Plan

A draft of the updated Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area Management Plan is going through the final stages of preparation before being released for public consultation in January.

The Government is committed to facilitating proper public consultation in relation to the draft TWWHA Management Plan.

Consistent with this, as previously announced, the statutory requirement for 30 days public consultation will be doubled to two months.

The Government recognises that the Christmas and New Year period is a busy time for many people. In order to deliver the best possible opportunity for comment, the draft plan will be released and public consultation will begin on 19 January.

The current Management Plan, which was last revised in 1999, is outdated and the Tasmanian Government committed to updating it.

Significant work and stakeholder consultation has gone into this process over the past 18 months and we look forward to sharing the draft plan with the public in the coming weeks.
