Doors Open on Another New Business

The Liberal Government is committed to helping businesses to have the confidence to create jobs and grow the economy.

This afternoon I had the pleasure of officially opening an innovative new small business in Taroona called The Dog Clinic.

Thought to be the first canine-only vet hospital in Australia, The Dog Clinic is the brainchild of veterinary surgeon, Dr Raj Wicks, who moved his family from Melbourne to Hobart to open the small business.

The facility is purpose-built to minimise the potential stress of its canine clients, as well as their owners.

Dr Wicks says several Tasmanian Government business support initiatives have greatly assisted in opening the clinic, including the Small Business Jobs Bonus and the water and sewerage headworks holiday.

The estimated $8,000 saved has enabled the business to purchase state-of-the-art, dog-specific diagnostic equipment, while the Jobs Bonus has assisted in employing two full-time staff, with plans to expand in the future.

The Liberal Government is committed to getting the economy moving again. The opening of a brand new business is further evidence of green shoots that will result in jobs growth and prosperity for Tasmanians.
