The Devonport Living City Project is quickly taking shape.
The Project is driving jobs, growth and confidence in North-West Tasmania while linking the city centre to the waterfront, and shows what can be delivered when federal, state and local governments work together.
The Living City Project is expected to generate $250 million in investment over a 5 to 10 year construction period, and support up to 830 ongoing jobs.
The new Civic Precinct remains on track to be completed by mid-year and will include a new multi-purpose civic building that will be home to a state-of-the-art LINC, Service Tasmania, café, Council offices and an 800 seat convention centre.
Additionally, the project has attracted significant private investment with Tasmanian construction firm Fairbrother announced as the proponent for the development of a new $40 million waterfront hotel, with construction expected to start next year.
It’s a great endorsement of the renewed confidence in Tasmania and in the state’s North West, and supports our long term plan to attract investment and create jobs right around the state. Much like the Inveresk UTAS and Burnie UTAS projects, the City Living Project will deliver a vibrant transformation of Devonport into the future.
