Devonport High School’s $10.5m facelift

The $10.5 million major redevelopment of Devonport High School is one step closer with the beginning of consultation.

This redevelopment will include the provision of contemporary learning environments, support spaces and administration, and car parking improvements.

Construction is expected to commence during 2021.

The Hodgman Government is seeking comprehensive engagement with the Devonport school community, the wider community and local businesses to determine exactly what learning offerings and facilities are needed.

The Hodgman Liberal Government is investing a record $324 million over six years into education – including $179 million for key new education infrastructure.

The 2018-19 Budget includes new funding over four years of $96.1 million to upgrade facilities at sites around the state with 11 new infrastructure allocations, adding to the 21 existing allocations.

This is the largest state investment in education infrastructure in over 20 years and continues the Hodgman Liberal Government’s commitment to education infrastructure improvement.

Educational facilities require ongoing upgrades and development to ensure they are configured to support 21st Century learning practices.

The projects are also part of a strategic investment in the state’s infrastructure that will drive economic growth and create jobs from planning to construction.

The community is invited to get online to offer their thoughts on the redevelopment via www.education.tas.gov.au
